- Red felt- 20cm x 20cm
- Black Glitter Foam-20cm x 25cm

Tools Needed

- A craft knife or a long bladed kitchen knife
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Create a Halloween Vampire Gnome
Nose, Hands and Arms:
- Use a square of pantyhose and push some fibrefill in the middle to form a ball shape. Wrap then twist around a small silicone band. Make 2 hands and 1 nose (the nose should be bigger)
- Glue his hand onto the sleeve triangle at the front (longest side) in the middle. Make sure the silicone band is covered. Put some glue along the front edge and the side and fold over so that the hand looks like it’s coming out of a sleeve.

Feet and Legs
- Cut the foam egg in half to make 2 feet. Use a bread knife or a craft knife but be careful not to cut yourself (This step should be done by an adult)
- Get the leg material, glue along the 5cm edge and put on the leg stick and roll up, then glue down at the end. If you have done this correctly there should be an uncovered gap at each end. One end will go into the shoe and the other end will go into the body/ bottom
- Glue his shoe- curved side – onto the material (purple glitter foam) take your time and glue all the way over and down to the flat side trying not to get too many wrinkles around the edge. Stop at this edge and then cut off any excess.
- Glue the shoe sole down onto the base material and cut off excess.
- Add some red trim to the very edge where the glitter foam meets the black felt. Start and finish where the inside of the shoe will be so that the join can be hidden. Make sure you start on opposite sides so that the joins are both in the middle.
- Put your shoes together facing you, flat side down. The wider rounded end is the back of the shoe so the narrower end will be pointing towards you. Decide where you want the leg to go into the shoe (make sure it’s not too far back as he will be off balance and fall backwards)
- Make a hole with some scissors then add the glue and push in the legs. Have them on a slight angle inwards with the material join facing inwards on the same side as the join.
- Glue the 2 shoes together in the middle where the trim join is. This makes him more stable.

Body, Nose, Cape and Beard:
- Glue the black felt on to the base of the foam cone and cut off the excess.
- Glue the front (purple) piece of felt on to the front of the body (foam cone)and this will be where the nose and beard will go) so that the bottom edge is covered. Cut off any excess material around the base edge.
- Glue your 2 pieces of cape together so you have an inside (red) and an outside (black) this can be sewn around the edges instead if you want.
- Glue the body part of the cape (not the collar as this will be turned down) onto the back of the cone so the purple felt is showing in the front. Have some of the cape hanging down below the base. The front corners should have about 2cm hanging below the body and at the back there should be about 0.5cms hanging down. So looking from the back you will see a black back and a red collar.
- With the collar folded down decide where you want his nose to be and glue it on.
- Trim his beard material into a V shape and snip at the top down a little way- this goes around the nose.
- Glue the beard on making sure you pull it up and around the nose and also make sure it looks nice and tidy. If it’s still looking a bit messy- the silicone band is showing- you can add more glue behind the nose and push the nose flat but only at the top because we will still need to glue some fangs under the nose.

Hat:
- Using the inside circle of the hat brim as a guide roll the hat taper in to a tube shape. Glue down the edge. Then glue one end of the tube onto the hat brim where the hole is. This can be fiddly but try not to use too much glue.
- Glue the top end of the tube onto the small square (black glitter foam) and trim off the excess material. Again try not to use too much glue.
- Use some red ribbon (if you want) and glue it around at the base of the hat. Start and stop at the join.
- Add your feather/s to cover the side seam of the tube.

Wings:
- Put the 2 colours of glitter foam on top of each other-the wrong sides together- so the glitter sides of the foam are showing. Cut out your wings.
- Glue them together making sure the glitter side is on the outside.
- Using some scraps left from your black glitter foam cut some rounded strips and add these to the purple side of the wings so they look like veins. Copy the picture on your paper pattern.
- Cut off any bits over lapping the wings

Legs/Arms/Hat and wings on:
- Put a small dab of paint on the top of each leg. Sit the body on to the legs. The paint will then transfer onto the bottom of his body. Now make the holes, where the paint is, with a pair of scissors.
- Add glue into the holes and push in his legs. You may have to play around with him to get him to sit flat and not fall backwards- If he refuses to stay standing add a round circle for a stand and glue his feet down. This needs to be a nice thick material because of the weight needed.
- Glue his arms on where you want them on each side.
- Sit his hat on the top to see how it fits. Take it off and put some glue around the top of his nose and back and glue down around the sides so that none of the bare foam cone is showing. You might have to cut some of the foam cone off at the top if the hat won’t go down far enough or maybe add some fur if you can’t cover the cone with his hat, so that it looks like hair.
- Decide on where you want his wings to sit and glue on. You can glue his hands onto the wings if you want to as this gives the illusion of him flying.
- Cut 2 fangs out of some stiff white material, push the nose up add a little glue, put on the fangs and push the nose down so it covers the top of the fangs.
